A fusion culinary restaurant & lounge in Thamel, Kathmandu blending traditional Newari terracotta bricks, hand-hammered copper, and moody ambient lighting.
Project Overview
Crafted for a high-end dining establishment in Thamel, Kathmandu, this restaurant interior project immerses guests in a rich tactile environment. Custom brass pendant lamps cast warm pools of light across hand-carved timber tables, while exposed brick arches pay homage to Kathmandu’s historic courtyard architecture.
The Client Brief
Design an 80-seat fine dining restaurant with a central cocktail bar, private dining alcoves, and an open show kitchen.
Design Challenge
A narrow 25-ft frontage with a deep 90-ft footprint required strategic acoustic management and dramatic spatial zoning.
Design Concept & Solution
We designed three distinct dining atmospheres along the longitudinal axis: a vibrant front lounge bar, an intimate central courtyard dining area with a glass skylight, and a secluded private dining mezzanine.
Final Architectural Outcome
Ranked among Thamel’s top-rated visual dining destinations, attracting both domestic gourmets and international visitors.
